HES is not a clinical tool and does not replace professional psychological, psychiatric, or medical assessment. If severity, duration, or impairment is a concern for you or someone close to you, consult a qualified professional.
Not a clinical tool
HES is a conceptual and scientific reference framework. It is not a clinical tool, not a diagnostic system, and not a therapeutic guideline. It does not replace professional psychological, psychiatric, or medical assessment. If severity, duration, or impairment of any state described here is a concern for you or someone close to you, consult a qualified professional.
Not a verdict on persons
HES describes mechanisms and states; it does not rate people as good or bad, healthy or sick, better or worse. No element, pole, or level on this site is a judgement about any individual.
The state of the evidence
HES is evidence-aligned, not evidence-complete. Every element carries a Measurement Maturity Level (MML) that states how mature its measurement currently is; an MML rating is a statement about evidence, not about individuals. Content may be revised as the science moves, and revisions are recorded in the changelog.
No professional advice
Nothing on this site constitutes psychological, medical, educational, HR, legal, or other professional advice. Decisions about individuals — clinical, educational, or occupational — must not be based on this site alone.
